8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Lexus ES 300h?
The NHTSA has issued 5 recalls affecting the 2017 Lexus ES 300h: three related to the Pre‑Collision System (Forward Collision Avoidance), one for a brake booster pump, and one for certain 2.5L engine castings. The Forward Collision Avoidance recalls report that the Pre‑Collision System (PCS) can unexpectedly activate and apply the brakes when radar misidentifies steel joints or plates in the roadway, increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace specified PCS components free of charge. The Brake Booster Pump recall notes potential failure that could deactivate the Vehicle Stability Control system and reduce brake assist; dealers will inspect and replace the pump if needed at no cost. The Engine recall covers porosity in some 2.5L engine castings that may allow coolant leaks, which can cause overheating, stalls, or in rare cases oil leaks that raise fire risk; affected engines are inspected and replaced as required free of charge. All recall details are reported by the NHTSA and resolved through manufacturer recall campaigns; for scheduling, please schedule service with Nalley Lexus Roswell.
How do I check if my 2017 Lexus ES 300h has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to Nalley Lexus Roswell for a free recall check; our team will confirm open campaigns and next steps. If you prefer in‑person help, our factory‑trained technicians will run the VIN through official manufacturer and NHTSA databases at no cost and explain available repairs. To expedite service, you can schedule service online and ask us to pre‑check recall status before your arrival.
How much does a 2017 Lexus ES 300h recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2017 Lexus ES 300h are performed free of charge by the manufacturer at an authorized dealer. Manufacturer recall campaigns cover parts and labor for defects identified by the NHTSA; Nalley Lexus Roswell performs these repairs using OEM parts and factory diagnostic tools. If you need additional non‑recall maintenance at the same visit, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to pay over time.
Can I get my 2017 Lexus ES 300h recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostics, and that the manufacturer’s remedy is recorded properly; we recommend bringing your vehicle to Nalley Lexus Roswell. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer‑specific parts or programs and may not register the recall repair with the manufacturer, which can affect warranty and resale records. To protect safety and retain full remedy documentation, use our certified technicians and schedule service at Nalley Lexus Roswell — we also offer service financing to help with any additional approved work.
How long does a 2017 Lexus ES 300h recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign, but most recall repairs for the 2017 Lexus ES 300h are completed within a few hours to one business day once parts are available. The PCS component replacement and brake booster pump inspection are often same‑day when parts are in stock; engine replacements can take longer if a replacement engine or block is required. To reduce wait time, please schedule service online and check our service specials while you book.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Lexus ES 300h's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved safety recall can lower trade‑in and resale value because dealers and buyers often verify NHTSA records; resolving recalls at a certified dealer protects value. Nalley Lexus Roswell documents recall completion using OEM parts and factory technicians, which helps maintain clean service history and buyer confidence. For an appraisal that reflects completed recall work, visit our trade‑in page to get an online estimate: sell your car online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Lexus ES 300h recall?
State inspections vary, but safety‑related defects from recalls—such as braking or engine issues—could cause a vehicle to fail inspection or be flagged, so address recalls promptly. Fixing recall items through an authorized dealer ensures the issue is remedied with OEM parts and documented properly for future inspections. Call Nalley Lexus Roswell or schedule service to resolve open recalls quickly and protect your vehicle’s safety and compliance; we also offer service financing if needed.
